*Microsoft Bob – Too much userfriendlicity*

The worst tech products of all time by PC World – 2006.

In 1995 Microsoft create an interface called Microsoft Bob which suppose to
    help people use a computer.
Screens showed “room” with familiar objects corresponding to computer
applications. Clicking on the pen and paper would open the word processor,
and so forth. A cartoon dog named Rover provided guidance using speech
    balloons.

luckily, users turn out smart enough not to use this interface.

    This interface proofed principal:
*Build a system that even a fool can use and only a fool will want to use
    it.*

From the other hand. It is a good example of daring experiment and
    revolutionary approach.

Definitely valuable invention is desktop adviser. It worth to be used in
every desktop to lead a new user with short tutorial and to teach an
advanced user with helpful tips to improve his experience and to show
    useful key shortcuts.

I found this idea is partly implemented in KDE. Text editor Kate shows tips
on program start. I think spending time to learn tips from documentation is
extreme boring. With tips you can learn system while you do your tasks or
chatting with friend. To my mind, it is the best approach.
