The real problem arouses on which console to buy when, like me, you love exclusives from both consoles. KILLZONE and Halo are both great But I really don’t feel like spending about 1,050$ in total just to be able to buy both of them. This is also excluding online costs and DLC for the games.

i have been emailing a girl in china that is comming here to visit her friends- we have immediatly decided to meet- but she reveled that she really doesn’t speak a word of english and she has been translating both sides of the conversation by any means possible ( wow) but it is driving her crazy and time consuming- i need to talk into a machine and have it speak in chinese, and vise/verse, any ideas? also need a program to translate emails– i will buy it , no adware junk
Until computers begin to learn by themselves. It’s inevitable.
Human translators will never go out of business, the only thing holding machine back is AI. Humans will continue to develop “language”, and the comprehension between dialects and regions, and culture, relies on human experience. It’s a great way to save money, but human speech will always advance past machine, in any case, they will need translators to work behind the scenes for this technology.

English speech recognition is pretty accurate but since they are translating by a word by word basis it is expected that Chinese translation is far from good.

They did some wonderful work with Windows 8. And then they somehow managed to fuck up lots of basic stuff.
I have no fucking clue why the smartphone Skype apps on competing OS are better than the Windows Phone ones or why they didn’t ship Windows RT with Outlook (Well, at least they seem to be working on that one).
Hell, they could have allowed .exe files for RT. The open-source community would just need minor recompilling for programs to run.

a second language speaker of chinese will always have an incomparable advantage with native chinese speakers in the fact that chinese speakers greatly appreciate the work undergone in order to reach a level of proficiency in spoken chinese. that will always be special and irreplaceable

still fighting the order of wording? wow, if you want to actually break down the barrier between two cultures, my guess is it will have to wait until year 4000+…. i mean, what about idioms, what about cultural background information, what about the message encoded by colors, animals, objects, people, bla bla bla?
Like, dogs resemble friends in the western culture, but cheap and annoying people in chinese culture; white is used in weddings in the west, but in funerals in china.
It’s very good, most definitely understandable, especially compared to the nonsense that comes out of google translate. As people have said, it’s not perfect with some, juvenile phrasing, but the voice modulation and intonation are pretty much spot on.
You gotta love Microsoft Research.
